True Worship Can Produce Holiness

A few quick thoughts from April 9, 2018

I found a book at the Goodwill titled, "Bible Doctrines - a Pentecostal Perspective" by William W. Menzies and Stanley M. Horton An in-depth study of the teachings of the Bible covering the 16 Fundamental truths the Assemblies of God hold to.

As I was reading the chapter on Sanctification the author made an interesting point about the Temple Vessels...

They were not "Holy" until they were used in the Worship of a Holy God...

As a former Worship Pastor I thought of all the times we were in Worship and the effect true worship had on the believers present...

I would turn that to say, that it follows that, we cannot be "Holy" if we do not Worship...

I know worship means many things to different people...

But, in its essence it is the drawing near to God, counting Him worthy of our time and single-minded efforts, in some activity...

(For me it's emotionally intense Worship Singing...)

Realizing that our God is a consuming fire...

Can there be any doubt that as we draw near to Him the "chaff" can't help but be burned away...

(As opposed to us trying to de-chaff ourselves or one another…)

Of course when I personally think of Worship I think in terms of intense fervent "pressing in" to God's Presence...

But, whatever Worship is to you, be sure it is God you are worshipping and not the pastor, church, music, music minister or music team.

Be Ye Holy for I AM Holy 1 Peter 1:16 (and at least 13 places in the Old Testament)

As I thought about my edit, above, the following random thought occurred…

In ancient times the wheat went to the threshing floor where it was beaten and then thrown into the air, the breeze would blow away the chaff leaving only the grain behind.

I suppose it can be postulated that in the same way we go through the threshing floor of life and our grain is mixed up with the chaff…

It is when we truly worship that we throw ourselves up before Jehovah and the wind of His Spirit will blow the chaff away…

I can think of a lot of potential ramifications about being beaten and having lots of chaff, but one thing I know is that the key ingredients are Worship and The Holy Spirit…

Can it be said that No Worship, No Wind – With Wind, Worship???
